It all started with a blouse.
I spotted it hanging on a rack, made from an embroidered blue tablecloth lit up in the Danish Summer light. I had to buy it! In an age of fast fashion, disposable culture and endless scrolling - I realised there was another way to create - one that valued what already exist and celebrates the beauty of making with intent.
That moment became the beginning of Slowstitch, a small, sustainable clothing start-up making one-of-a-kind pieces from existing textiles.
Why does this exhibition matter to me?
This exhibition is a celebration of ‘what remains’ and how we can transform what already exists into wearable pieces. It follows my journey through the first few years of becoming a sustainable fashion designer, it explores the garments I have created, the techniques I have developed and the craftsmanship behind each piece.
One of the things I enjoy about this exhibition is the opportunity to share how each piece comes to life. From sourcing forgotten textiles to the final stitch, every garment has its own story. During this exhibition, I hope to spark conversation about sustainability and invite people to think differently about the clothes they wear- not as disposable items, but as objects that can be cared for, repaired and treasured. By opening up my creative process and sharing what I have learned, I hope to encourage others to begin their own Slowstitch Journey.
